Hi! I'm Sofia Diaz, a senior at South Lyon East High School. Music and family are the most important things in my life. I come from a family of six, including my mom, dad, and three younger brothers. I am the oldest of four kids, which has taught me leadership and responsibility. I enjoy spending time with my family and also practicing my favorite hobby: my music.

 

I have played flute for seven years and piano for nine years. I have participated in marching and symphonic band since middle school and hope to continue with both activities in college.

 

When not at marching band camp, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp has been my summer home-away-from-home for two weeks each of the past six years. I have had the opportunity to work with music teachers and students from all over the U.S. and various foreign countries there. 

 

Another one of my hobbies is musical theatre, whether I am performing in chorus on-stage or in the pit orchestra! I am an introvert, but that doesn't mean that I don't love to perform! Some of my favorite musicals include Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, If/Then, Rent, and Fun Home. 

 

My passion is helping people; I am considering an allied health profession, such as Speech-Language Pathology. I want to eventually work in pediatrics, either in a hospital or possibly at my own practice. I am interested in Speech-Language Pathology because it combines several of my interests. I love finding similarities between different languages' roots, communication, psychology, and the life sciences (anatomy and physiology and biology). Also, I enjoy teaching people things.
